About Us

Colytix is a privately funded company founded in 2016. The company's technology is broadly targeted at developing tools for higher education students to improve success and retention rates in class, while simultaneously providing a platform for data collection of non-cognitive (ie non-grade-based) factors that contribute to student success rates. The three founders bring a unique set of complementary skills that provide a strong foundation for the company.

Lori Silverman, Ph.D., Founder & CEO (Principal Investigator): 18 years of experience as an active community college faculty member, as well as independent consulting for multiple community colleges in implementing improved teaching/learning techniques. PhD in higher education and currently the PI on two active NSF programs at Foothill College.

Josh Silverman, Ph.D., Founder & President: Founder of 5 previous successful startups, in total raising over $150M in venture capital and over $500M in realized returns via acquisition and IPO. Over 15 years of experience as an executive at high tech companies and growing concept-stage companies to successful businesses.

David Nguyen, Ph.D., Founder & Chief Technology Officer: Over 20 years of research and product experience in human-computer interaction, focusing on ubiquitous computing, wearable computing, and mobile computing. Expert in interaction design, user experience design, machine learning, and data analysis.

Sen Hirano, Ph.D., User Experience Principal: Expert in novel interactive technologies, with a focus on educational technology and mobile ubiquitous devices. Over 10 years of experience in researching and developing mobile applications for context and location aware computing. Sen is focused on researching, designing, and engineering the Colytix Platform.
